Shannon Golf Club

Established in 1966, Shannon’s 6,763-yard course, designed by John D Harris, has been tested by golfers from all over the world – members, European professionals and a host of US stars. Shannon has proudly hosted both Irish and European amateur championships and the Men’s Amateur Irish Close Championship and, a lot more is planned for the future.

Now firmly established as one of Ireland’s premier parkland courses, Shannon’s fairways feature natural meadow grass planted on either side with spruce, evergreens and wide variety of deciduous trees. The course presents a mixture of sand-based and traditional greens, maintained to the highest standard and protected by numerous sand bunkers to offer the final challenge to each hole. Water hazards are a feature of the 6^th, 7^th, 8^th, 14^th and 17^th holes with the par three 17^th the course’s signature hole, requiring a dedicated golf shot over the Shannon Estuary.
