The Shannon Golf Club Choir was started around 2006 when a group of members got together after a golf outing. They secured the services of Niall Fennell who became their first choirmaster. Niall guided them until his retirement in 2014/2015. Since then they are being guided by Clem Garvey, to both these men we are very thankful. We are blessed to have such good friends.
The Choir have performed at a number of venues since they started, such as the Lakes Nursing Home in Killaloe, Carrigoran and Milford Hospice. Also various churches, Holy Rosary, and St Mary’s Cathedral in Limerick and both Churches in Shannon. Hotels such as Woodfield House Hotel, The Strand and the Oakwood and of course the Golf Club. They have also collaborated with other groups for charity events.
The objective of the Choir is to provide an outlet and interest for the members, while at the same time being part of something that can contribute to the community. The Choir season runs from September to April. New members are always welcome. Practice is on Wednesday evenings from 8.00pm to 10.00 pm.
